Tag Rugby

Limerick Exiles take their first All Ireland Crown

After the success of Pig ‘n’ Porter 2 weeks ago, Limerick Exiles went into the All Irelands as the team to beat. This year the IRFU Tag Rugby All Irelands were hosted by Garryowen on the last Saturday of July.

The Exiles were involved in some enthralling group games throughout the Afternoon, marginally winning against Galway and Cork teams thanks to late tries.

This nerve-racking style continued right to the final, where the Exiles turned a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 win at the death of it all.

With 2 minutes remaining Declan O’ Donnell secured parity.

And in the last minute, Alan O’ Riordan received the ball and from the halfway line, he managed to jink, side step and pirouette his way through a crowded defense to score an epic winning try.

Well done to the four Kilfinane lads involved, Vinny O’Donnell (capt), Declan O’Donnell, Alan O’Riordan and Pat O’Sullivan.

We would like to wish Alan O’Riordan the best of luck as he returns to Sydney, Australia this week.
